Greece trip plan

My top pick: Santorini sunsets in Oia, Acropolis in Athens, street gyros.

Iceland travel guide & trip planning

Planning a trip to Iceland? Start with these destination notes. The capital is Reykjavík, the main languages are Icelandic, and the approximate population is 390,000.

My top pick: Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon, Harpa Concerts and events, The Icelandic Phallological Museum, scuba diving, and touching two continents at the same time at Silfra

When is the best time to visit Iceland?

June to August brings the midnight sun, open highland roads and the easiest driving. September to March is Northern Lights season, with October and February to March a good balance of dark skies and milder weather. Spring and autumn are quieter and cheaper.

How do you get to the Blue Lagoon?

The Blue Lagoon is about 20 minutes by car from Keflavík International Airport and about 45–50 minutes from Reykjavík. You can drive yourself or take a transfer bus from Reykjavík or the airport — many travelers stop on the way to or from their flight. Book your entry time in advance.
